There’s an element of guilty pleasure in reading other people’s journals. That’s part of why I love Art Journaling Magazine. This bi-monthly mag is also total eye candy. Colorful, inspiring, and downright beautiful.
I just discovered this publication a few weeks ago. I had no idea it even existed. One great thing about the information era we’ve entered is the birth of the micro-niche. Who knew a magazine about journaling could survive – nevermind a magazine about art journaling specifically. It almost makes all the traffic jams on the information superhighway worth it.
This issue features an in-depth look at several art journals. It’s easy to get discouraged looking at the talent and creativity of these artists. But I try not to compare what I do as a fledgling art journaler with the pros. You shouldn’t, either – you’re already fabulous.
It’s best to use fodder like this to gather ideas. Get inspired. Or indulge in that naughty snooping feeling you get from turning the pages of someone else’s life.
Here are a few grabs from the latest issue. Journaling Magazine is put out by Somerset Studio, which has several other gorgeous glossies you might want to check out. I picked up my copy at the local Barnes & Noble.
If you’re looking for some fresh ideas or just an entertaining read, be sure to check it out.
