The Journalfest 2010 journaling workshop has been officially announced for October 27-31, 2010 in Port Townsend, WA. The line-up was posted this week and it’s absolutely amazing. It’s hosted by Teesha Moore, the incredible mastermind behind Artfest. I’m so lucky to be in Seattle and just a ferry ride away from all this mad, creative action.
This will be my first Journalfest because I didn’t discover the event until registration for 2009 had already closed. But this time my application is already in, and I’m turbo excited, even though it’s months away.
I became absolutely giddy when I read the description of the available workshops to choose from this year: photograph transfer methods, journaler’s drawing lab, mixed-media collage, rescued book journal making, and a dozen others. One of my favorite artist bloggers, Stephanie Lee, will be leading several of the workshops. And Journalfest even features several spooky-themed workshops in honor of Halloween: “Dia de Los Muertos” and “DeCorporis Humani Fabrica.”
You can read in depth descriptions of all the classes offered at Journalfest here.
Finding this retreat reminds me of when I first discovered the existence of scooter clubs and my friends breathed a collective sigh of relief that they no longer had to endure my gushing about two-stroke modifications, carbs, and upjetting. The Journalfest community is a place where I can excitedly blab about journal writing, bookbinding, and papercrafts with wild abandon.
Kind of like this website! 🙂
